Rally of the Lakes 2024

Rally of the Lakes 2024

This morning pupils in Shrone gave a warm welcome to father and son…
Declan and Michael Boyle.(and their team)
Both will be participating in the upcoming rally this weekend.
They gave us a wonderful insight into the world of rally driving.

Prior to their arrival pupils were busy decorating flags that will be on display at the Moll’s Gap stage this weekend.

All in Shrone would like to express our gratitude to Declan and Michael for taking time out of their busy schedule to be with us this morning.
We wish them every success  over the coming days in the Rally of the Lakes.

Shrone girls retain East Kerry CnaB five a side title.

Shrone girls retain East Kerry CnaB five a side title.
The Shrone girls brought home again a remarkable fourth title in four years from the happy hunting ground of Barraduff Community field today overcoming Glenflesk and Meentogues in challenging weather conditions.
In the first match played against Glenflesk the dynamic duo of Grace O Sullivan and Laura Cronin were dominant in midfield, clinical in attack and sturdy in defence. Isabelle O Sullivan proved too hot to handle as the inside forward but the standout performance came from Aoibhinn Creedon who today announced herself as a senior player on this squad. Tenacious in defence, first to every ball she made sure Clodagh Cahill had a quiet day in goals. As legs began to tire Kaitlin Cronin was introduced making a real impact, Glenflesk rallied towards the end putting some good scores in but it finished  Glenflesk 2-6  Shrone 5-10

A heavy April shower delayed the start of the match against Meentogues,  the girls kept warm by dancing a few reels in the stand before taking to the field. Meentogues proved to be tough opposition,  utilising a Donegal style long kickout to register some early scores, Isabelle O Sullivan used her speed to cover back at kickouts and this threat was quickly neautralised.  From here Shrone kicked on, Laura, Grace and Isabelle all contributed to the scoreboard.  At halftime changes were made, Clodagh Cahill moving to full back,  Esme Leonard and Kaitln Cronin to mid field and Emma Buckley at full forward.  Special congratulations to Emma who a week after her first Holy Communion kicked her first point for Shrone. Well done Emma! Shrone held on for a comfortable win and the East Kerry cup was presented to Grace and Laura. Shrone will now compete in the next round of the competition. Thanks to Mrs Favier for organising and to Barraduff Community field for use of the facilities.
