First Aid Course

Our thanks to Jerry from IRD duhallow who gave a very informative first aid presentation to the pupils in both rooms. He covered a variety of first aid topics to all of which were relevant  to the children’s  lives. The pupils got the chance to carry out CPR on mannequins. They learnt how to bandage a wound and they learned the signs and symptoms  of a stroke. It was the most enjoyable course and we would like to thank Jerry for his wealth of knowledge. 


























































Time to plant.

On the 20th April all the pupils in the Junior room planted nasturtium seeds. We watched them grow from week to week and we watered them daily.



 Every Tuesday we measured the size of the plant and we plotted the measurement on a graph. This morning the tallest plant was 28cm tall. 


























Today we transplanted them into the school garden. We are waiting now to see which plant will flower the first.

St Brendan

Sunday May 16th marks the feast of St.Brendan (Patron saint of Kerry). On Wednesday Kerry County Museum delivered a webinar. It was all about the life of St. Brendan. Following that pupils in the Junior room did various projects about St. Brendan. In order to mark the feast of St. Brendan Fr Pat has asked that all homes, schools and clubs in the parish would fly a flag this weekend. It is an expression of our gratitude to all those who have worked in the front line during the pandemic.

Gneeveguilla Athletics Club,

Information from  Gneeveguilla Athletics Club 


Good news: we are returning to training in Gneeveguilla GAA grounds on 11/05/2021 and in Barradubh Community Field on 13/05/2021 for children born in 2013 or older. Due to covid regulations we can only accept children that intend competing with our club as our numbers are limited. 
Training times are 7pm to 8pm. Pre-booking is required. To pre-book, a Covid health care questionnaire must be completed before each session This can be completed online using the links below, on the day of each session from 6.30am. If you cannot complete the online questionnaire, please send an SMS to 083 0270053 to indicate that you will be attending. 
Membership is €15 for juveniles (reduced rate for 2021) and €2 per session. We are requesting that parents consider volunteering as we are really short of coaches. When children are being dropped a parent/ guardian has to sign them in. Please adhere to social distancing at all time - no standing around in groups and face mask must to be worn. Please collect your children at 8pm sharp – our coaches are not your babysitters.

Sliabh Luachra Cycling Club

Information from the Sliabh Luachra Cycling Club. 

Hi All, we are delighted to be starting back our underage training.....the even better news we now have an off road training track in Knocknagree to start kids aged 6 to 10. Once you have a bike with sturdy wheels and can ride without stabilisers your ready to go. Here the kids will learn the basic skills and have loads of fun. We have just started building the track and there is a lot more to be done but we are ready start here with this age groups. If any kids interested far and wide PM us here or ring 0877501012. Please don't show up unannounced we need to follow strict covid guidelines. Starting next Saturday morning at 8:45.
