East Kerry INTO mini sevens competition

Shrone girls made their way to  Listry to compete in the East Kerry INTO mini sevens competition early Monday morning  This competition is open to all schools with a sliding age scale deciding who is eligible to play, the bigger the school the lower the age. Shrone were able to call on the services of all girls from 6th to 2nd class. This round of the competition is knockout, and there was a championship feel to occasion in the bright summery sunshine. Shrone faced Knockaderry and started well with Grace and Isabelle O Sullivan combining nicely to get a few scores and Grace on target from frees.  Knockaderry used the long ball well and were able to counter quickly from kickouts and find scores at the shrone end. Shrone trailing by 3 goals at half time. In the second half Shrone threw caution to the wind and went in full attack, Grace scoring a goal and point to start a comeback,  Kaitlin set up Isabelle for for chance that  hit the Crossbar instead of the back of the net, and Emma Buckley was unlucky to see a shot just wide of the uprights. Knockaderry steadied and countered well and despite the valiant efforts of Laura, Clodagh and Aoibhinn at the back were able to tack on a few insurance points to keep Shrone at bay. Final score Shrone 1 - 6 , Knockaderry 3-6.
Congratulations to Holy Family NS who won the competition and progressed to the next round as East Kerry representatives.
