Proclamation Day.

On Tuesday 15th March we celebrated Proclamation Day in Shrone N.S.
Current chairperson Colette Carmody, past Principal Daniel Vincent O Connor, oldest pupil (Niamh Mc Sherry) and youngest pupil  (Eabhla Murphy) raised the National flag.

The senior class did a huge amount of research on the Proclamation, the flag and the 1916 rising.

They gave a brief history on each of the signatories, Thomas Francis Meagher and the flag.

They performed some Irish Music and set- dancing.

Parents and members of the community then viewed our history exhibition in the senior room which had detailed information of all aspects of the rising compiled by the children.

Both Mr.Coakley and the senior pupils put a lot of work into Proclamation Day and deserve great credit for their efforts.

Thanks to everyone that came and helped in any way to make the day so special.

Happy Easter

Happy Easter from all the staff and pupils in Shrone N.S.

More Signs of Spring!

The tadpoles have emerged.

They feed on old dying plants at the moment.

We must give them fresh water from time to time. Remember frogs are a protected species and you must have  a license to collect frogspawn.
